Edward Norton Testifies

My good old buddy Edward Norton was in town yesterday.

As a trustee of Enterprise (the affordable-housing nonprofit founded by his grandfather) he was on Capital Hill touting “green” building practices in low-income housing. Speaking before the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming, Norton stated, “The legacy of my generation is going to hinge on how we respond to these revelations that we’re not living sustainably, and that we’re altering the environment.”

Amen Brother Norton. As your contemporary, I share your concerns. How will we be able to live with ourselves if we don’t do everything we can now to ensure a better tomorrow for our children? It’s up to us, and the time is now. Thankfully, GGP is addressing this as we enter into this new phase of our town’s history.

By the way, in case you didn’t know, Edward is the new Incredible Hulk. The movie hits theaters June 13th.

Master Plan Unveiled

As promised, I am reporting back with more details on the Town Center project. I was in attendance Monday, April 28th for the unveiling of the master plan of GGP for Town Center. I could not be more excited now that the detailed plan has been released, as by the looks of it, the residents of Columbia can look forward to exciting changes and improvements to help grow Columbia into a world-class community.

In general, the plan was well-received, and shows the level of outreach by GGP and their continued commitment to engage and involve all in the process. More info here and here

Quite a lot of information to digest, to be sure…looking forward to seeing comments/feedback on what others think of the plan going forward. Seems to be a new day dawning for Columbia, one we all can be excited to be a part of.
