Happy New Year!

I have a feeling that 2010’s gonna be a good year. My resolution is to be more active on this blog, especially with so much at stake for Columbia. The first couple months of this year will be very important in determining the future of downtown, and as things heat up, I will be here to report on it. Stay tuned!

As I was driving home from Baltimore last night, I rolled the window down and snapped this pic of the setting sun. For some reason, it made me think of the Genesis song, “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight” which opens with the line, “I’m coming down, coming down like a monkey.”

Have you seen this yet? It’s a moving poem read from a rooftop in Iran as screams of, “Allah-o Akbar” (“God is Great”) can be heard from the streets and homes below. This won’t leave me for a long time.

The operator of Merriweather Post Pavilion is continuing to pursue a federal anti-trust claim against the world’s largest concert producer, claiming the producer is keeping major acts from performing in Columbia.

Competition, in anything is always good, so I hope Seth Hurwitz wins this one. Plus, we’ll get better acts at Merriweather. What do you think?
